Time to don the party hats and pop the bubbly! Radio City 91.1 FM turns 11 this year. It was on July 3, 2001 in Bengaluru (then Bangalore) that we made our debut with a bang. And the start of a new decade has been fabulous indeed.
Apart from being the only standalone radio station to be in the top two radio stations across all markets, we were ranked amongst the top 10 companies across industries in the Great Place To Work survey in the Rewards and Recognition category.
We have had several programming firsts to our credit. We organized the first live and unplugged show organized by any radio company, Musical-e-Azam. We have the longest running jockey Vera Singh in Lucknow. We have the longest running sparkler Babber Sher. We were the first radio station to do a TV simulcast. We even organized a successful talent hunt, RC Live that became a platform for promoting emerging talent in the music industry. Our huge listener base is a testimony to our listeners’ engagement with the brand.
In November 2011, we introduced a new property Blue Carpet with the screening of the movie Rockstar. It gave our listeners a chance to watch the latest movies on the first weekend itself in their most preferred local multiplex. The campaign extends across eight markets - Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Hyderabad.
