Homebred international star Longinus Fernandes is once again gearing to bag accolades for his dancing stints, as he has a lot more to let loose in the coming year on an international pedestal.
Longinus has just finished choreographing a dance sequence for the Julia Roberts starrer Hollywood film, Eat, Pray, Love. Recently, Longinus was in Mirzapur village along with his troupe for a three-day shoot of the song sequence. “It was basically a dance sequence for a wedding function, which was to be shot in the village. The scene showed Julia sitting in the crowd, watching a group of 50 people including firangs and villagers dancing in the procession. She wasn’t a part of the dance scene at all,” he imparts.
So did he get to interact with Julia on the sets? “She is an amazing person and is extremely humble. I was surprised that she knew a lot about me. She complimented me for my work in Slumdog Millionaire. Also, she was very patient throughout the shoot and was present on the sets everyday.” He added, “I also met the director of the movie, Ryan Murphy. He said, ‘Longi, I’m proud to see your work and you’ll definitely go a long way.’ I consider myself to be very lucky to have worked with such renowned artists and filmmakers.” Apparently, Longinus continues to receive appreciation for Slumdog Millionaire.
He excitedly adds, “The shoot would start at seven in the morning and would go on till seven in the evening. And since it was a typical Indian wedding scene there was a lot of commotion and color in the song. We hardly rehearsed for the sequence. And I must mention that we received incredible support from the film crew and locals. It will be a five-minute sequence in the movie.”
“I am working back-to-back these days. As soon as, I get done with this film I had to begin with another international movie Honour Killings. This Indo-British movie is directed by the Indian filmmaker Avtar Bhogal and has quite a few Indian actors in it.”
