Music composer Amit Trivedi is known for turning out music that is always zara hatke.
Whether it was Dev.D
or the internationally acclaimed Udaan
, Trivedi has always managed to churn out tracks that stick in one’s head well after the movie has released. And it looks like he has managed the same for the Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor starrer Aisha.
The first song of the album is ‘Suno Aisha’ which has fun, happy and youth written all over it. The listener can almost be forgiven to think the song is a Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy or Vishal-Shekhar composition for a Karan Johar film. The song is currently enjoying immense air play and has all the makings to become one of the most popular songs of the year. Great way to kick off an album!
The next song is an all out Punjabi number. Cutely titled ‘Gal Mitthi Mithi Bol’ sung by Tochi Raina, the song is very different from all the peppy Punjabi numbers we normally hear. It’s a simple feel good track that puts a smile on your face instantly. The remix of the song is equally good.
The next track ‘Shaam’ is wonderfully written by Javed Akhtar. The lyrics work from the start to the end but the composition appeals less as compared to the previous tracks. It’s one of those tracks that need a couple of listens before it begins to grow on you.
Anushka Manchanda arrives on the fourth track and it gets you going from the first note of ‘Behke Behke’. Raman Mahadevan and Samrat join Anushka and match her well. The song is a mish mash of various sounds that range from Caribbean to Arabic. Overall the track is catchy and just the kind of stuff you expect from Amit Trivedi.
The following track ‘Lehrein’ sung by Anusha Mani is like a warm cocoon that wraps you up in just the way ‘Iktara’ – also Amit’s work – did in Wake Up Sid. It hits your soul and is definitely the best track on the album. The song also makes a repeat in the work of a remix but the original is far better.
Neuman Pinto and Anushka Manchanda make a comeback on the last track. ‘Tumse Keh Denge’ is a fast paced dance number. Amit has pushed Anushka beyond her normal routine for this one and she manages to pull it off well. It makes for a pleasant listen!
is a young album. The music is catchy, peppy and makes you feel good by the time you hit stop. It is far removed from Amit’s previous work and that shows the talent this young man has. Definitely an album worth having!
