Hard Kaur's 'Talli' song was a roaring hit
Bollywood music with a bit of hip-hop and western feel seems to be the norm and the audiences’ preferred choice these days. And that’s one big reason why British hip-hoppers, composers and singers are gradually making their presence felt in Bollywood today. Read on about the top British artists already who’ve set their foot in Bollywood.

RDB
This famous Punjabi music group from the UK that was formed formally in 2000 has come a long way in becoming one of the leading Punjabi musicians, singers and entertainers in Bollywood today. RDB, which stands for Rhythm Dhol Bass, was formed by three UK-born Sikh brothers Kuly, Manj and Surj to create a new genre of music.

Today, these multi-talented brothers have established themselves worldwide, by creating a fusion of desi and urban music. RDB has worked and performed with many top artists from all different genres, but their biggest breakthrough in Bollywood was when they teamed up with actor Akshay Kumar and produced their first Bollywood song ‘Rafta Rafta’ (Namaste London) sung by Himesh Reshammiya. Their current hit number is ‘Paisa’ from the Akshay-Katrina starrer De Dana Dan.

Hard Kaur
India’s only female rapper, Hard Kaur debuted with the song ‘Glassy’ and has won a million hearts here in India with a number of hits like ‘Move Your Body’ (Johnny Gaddar), ‘Bas Ek King’ (Singh is Kinng), ‘Talli’ (Ugly Aur Pagli) and many such hits. Talking about her journey from UK to India Hard says, “Well, my journey has been wonderful. I had never thought people would love me so much in India. It all happened quickly, I didn’t even come to know how.”

About getting her Bollywood break, she says, “It was Sriram Raghavan, director of Johnny Gaddar, who offered me to do a song in his film. When I went over to see Mr Raghavan at his studio to show him my work, he told me he’d seen me on TV, liked my style, and wanted me to do a song for Johnny Gaddar. I was happy as I was getting a chance to work with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It’s because of them that I’m here today and I’m really thankful to them for that.”

Speaking of moving base to India, she says: “I must say I’m liking it here in India. In the UK, I remember when I was young a lot of community people would say, ‘Ladkiya rapping nahi karti’ (girls don't rap). That’s when I took it up as a challenge to make it big, and here I am.”

Labh Janjua
This international Punjabi singing sensation entered Bollywood in 2003 and has been an instant hit. Just in case you didn’t know, let us tell you that Labh was the one who sang the famous track ‘Mundian To Back Ke’ produced by Punjabi MC. He has also worked with a number of top producers like Punjabi MC, Dr Zeus, Sanj, Tigerstyle and many more.

But he got his actual Bollywood break in 2007 with the movie Hattrick. Since then, he has sung numerous songs in movies like Dev D, Singh is Kinng, Garam Masala, Dhol, Krazzy 4, Partner and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, to name a few.
