Most Notorious Rocker
  - HRM
He once injected himself with Jack Daniels
Tommy Lee and the rest of Motley Crue may have risen to fame as musicians, but their depraved lifestyle is their legacy. This has been apparent since lead singer Vince Neil quit the band for the first time in 1991, but was cemented in 2001.

In the same year, the band released a collaborative autobiography titled The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band. It made it to New York Times’ Bestsellers’ List and is now being turned into a film. Surprisingly, the band’s eighth studio album, which released less than a year before the book, sold poorly, debuting at #41 on the Billboard Charts, and is far from even a gold certificate.

Tommy Lee, the band’s drummer, is arguably the most undisciplined of the lot. Stories of most other band’s tours pale in comparison to his. Several of them may just be rumours, but many of the wild ones are true. In 2004, in an interview to Blender magazine he confirmed that he did inject Jack Daniel’s since he ran out of heroin.

He said, “We were doing heroin and cocaine and we ran out. There was only Jack left, so we filled it up and (makes injecting noise) boom! Obviously we weren’t thinking. We could have just drunk it, which is what I don’t understand. It was retarded. We thought it might be fun. But you can taste it in the back of your mouth, so once we did it, I was like, ‘We’ve gone a little too far, now. What’s next? Ajax? Windex?’”

But the band was always looking to go too far. Take, for example, their successful attempts to find themselves as tabloid fodder. While passing through customs at an American airport, the band, determined to make news, wore spiked stage wardrobe and at least one member carried porn magazines. If this wasn’t enough, they claimed, again as a PR stunt, that the band had received bomb threats.

Tommy Lee was interviewed by the local newspaper and had their pictures splashed across newspapers everywhere. The next day, again, Tommy had his pictures in the paper. But this time, things were really serious. The reason: An intoxicated Tommy threw his room TV set out the window and was banned from performing in the city of Edmonton in Canada.
