Brief Biography
The band that came in as a breath of fresh air in the Indian rock scene, Agnee is indeed different from the other humdrum bands of the country.

Starting out as a ‘Folk Heavy Metal’ band, Agni (as the first name goes) formed by Bharath, Juggie and Pravin Bell in 1987 was deemed as one of the best band’s of Pune. On account of the unfortunate demise of the band’s founder member Juggie and few other impediments the band fell apart.

In 2006, Koko, the man who played with the former Agni teamed up with Mohan and Arijit and revived the magic with the brand new Agnee.

Rocking the Indian music landscape, the band boasts of artists who were drawn to music owing to their ‘burning desire to make music’ and sheer passion. In a market obsessed with Bollywood music and only a handful of rock bands carving a space for themselves in mainstream music, Agnee is one such band that brought in a welcome change with their Indo-Western music sensibility reflecting in their compositions. Six years on and there has been no looking back for team Agnee eversince.

The band is construed by three characteristic styles of music with Koko having Pop, Classic Rock and Indian background, Arijit with his Jazz-Rock influences and Mohan with his Hindustani classical and Carnatic influences.

In May 2007, the band released its first album titled ‘Agnee’ pushing them to the top 3 slot of music charts in just 15 days. The album featuring songs like ‘Sadho Re’ and ‘Kabira’ are in fact an adaptation Kabir's dohas.

While the old Agni was a permanent fixture at college fests like Mood Indigo and I-Rock, the new band is more into mainstream music.

Agnee forayed into Bollywood with Prakash Jha’s Dil Dosti Etc. Later, the band came up with several singles like Kaise Ho Tum, Jee Lay Abhi with Viva girl Anushka Manchanda, I Believe in collaboration with Parikrama and Shilpa Rao and many more.

Agnee’s lead vocalist went on to sing Khanabadosh- a classic rock number from the movie London Dreams,  Naav Chadti- a semi-rock number for the film Udaan and the latest Yaariyaan for Cocktail. The band donned the music direction hat with two films Alaap and Shaala (Marathi) in 2012.

Blurring the east west divide with their Indo Rock music, Agnee treaded further when they signed the Hollywood film 'The Avengers' (2012) composing its promotional song ‘Hello Andhero’.

The band is currently gearing up for their upcoming Punjabi film as music directors and a Hindi film Gulaab Gang starring Madhuri Dixit.
