- One of Shaan’s biggest Indipop hits was Loveology, which was a rage on the college festival circuit in the 90s.
- Biddu, Usha Uthup, Alisha Chinai, Baba Sehgal, Sharon Prabhakar, Peenaz Masani, Shaan, Sagarika, Colonial Cousins, Lucky Ali, Sonu Nigam, Bombay Vikings, Raageshwari, Anu Malik are considered pioneers of Indi Pop
- Indi Pop started in the late 70s - early 80s, when there were very few singers who were popular as non-film singers such as Usha Uthup, Sharon Prabhakar and Peenaz Masani.
- The 90s saw growing support for Indipop with the emergence of playback singers releasing Indipop albums successfully.
- The earlier editions reality shows tried to introduce a new breed of Indipop artists like Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana and Aneek Dhar. But the efforts met with little success
- Its said that IndiPop started with Pakistani sibling duo Nazia Hassan and Zohaib joining hands with producer Biddu.
