When Pankaj was introduced as a Sufi style singer in the movie Karam, nobody took him seriously.But his song Tera Hi Karam was an Instant hit. He also composed some beautiful tracks for the movie Anwar. He has been busy composing experimenting with new sounds and creating some fantastic tunes.
Having amassed quite a name for himself in the contemporary music scene with the hit song ‘Tera hi Karam’ that was featured as the title track of the movie ‘Karam’ (a Harry Baweja production), Pankaj lives up to his reputation by rendering a couple of passionate sufi songs in his album titled ‘Nine’.
The talented Pankaj Awasthi has worked on jingles, composed music for feature films, ad films, scored background music for feature films, documentaries and much more. Recently, he has composed and directed the entire background music of feature film ‘Anwar’, the music of which has done really well on the charts.
Awasthi has made the best of his talent and picked much up from music magazines and websites and later by arranging and sequencing music for bigger bands such as Indian Ocean. The magic and simplicity of folk expressionism, rawness of tribal energy and the poetry of sound are trademarks that achieve a full circle in his music.
